He has been called a ‘modern-day renaissance man’ for his wide-ranging talents and abilities to envision, create, and innovate.
Lee Oskar – Selected Works
You may know Lee Oskar as the harmonica player and one of the founding members of the pioneering funk band, WAR, who produced Gold and Platinum recording hits such as “Low Rider,” “Cisco Kid,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” and many more. As the band’s art director, Lee was instrumental in creating WAR’s many album covers.
Oskar equates making art with making music—it comes from the same place. In his music, his visual art, and all his creative endeavors, Oskar uniquely blends the art of improvisation with his signature brand of technical mastery and precision.
Over the years, Oskar has explored a wide range of imagery, styles, and techniques, creating a striking and fascinating body of work that illustrates his evolution as an artist.
‘Selected Works’ is the first published insight into Lee’s creative painting process.
